Current residents (2012-2013)

Noah Fang, Pharm.D.

My name is Noah Fang and I’m a pharmacy resident at Northbay Healthcare.  I completed my Doctor of Pharmacy degree at University of the Pacific, Class of 2012.  Having wanted to continue in the hospital environment and loving chemistry in high school, I decided to pursue a pharmacy career as a pre-pharm at Pacific and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Medicinal Chemistry.  I’ve had some bench research in chemistry in the past, but want to expand to more relevant pharmacy research that can impact patient care in a matter of month/years vs decades.  Having been involved in community service within the healthcare field beginning in high school, I’ve continued to serve the community through health fairs and volunteer clinics throughout my pharmacy education.  At Northbay Healthcare, I’ve had to opportunity to participate in many high-level decision making committees and treasure the chance to mold our pharmacy profession. With the flexibility of a community hospital, paired with the opportunities with an academic institution, Northbay Healthcare really allowed me to grow clinically, professionally, and personally. In the future I would like to stay within the hospital environment and continue to have some research/teaching responsibilities.  In my free time I enjoy the outdoors: camping, hiking, backpacking, etc. My experience in scouting gave me great exposure to other joys like wilderness survival, archery, rifle shooting, etc. I like problem solving and working with my hands and eventually would like to have my own woodshop.

Alexandra Grochulski, Pharm.D.

Growing up, I had many experiences that attracted me towards the healthcare field, especially the wonderful world of pharmacy. As a teenager, my parents began a care home for the elderly and I became very involved in caring for elderly patients with Alzheimer’s disease and hospice patients. During high school and college years, I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. After completing my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University with an emphasis in Molecular & Cell Biology, I completed my pharmacy doctorate degree at Touro University. After graduating, I accepted a position as a Pharmacy Resident with NorthBay’s – Academia focused residency, sponsored through Touro University’s College of Pharmacy.  My future goals include continuing my education in Emergency Medicine and increasing my current responsibilities as a preceptor for pharmacy students. Outside of pharmacy, my husband and I enjoy wine tasting, snowboarding, and walking our two dogs.

Mike Le, Pharm.D.

I’m really glad that I chose NorthBay for my PGY1 residency; it’s a challenging environment filled with a wide breadth of learning experiences. The staff and preceptors are wholly devoted to their practice, which creates the ideal environment for honing clinical skills and developing clinical interests. Everyone I’ve worked with thus far has been amazing, and I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside extraordinary co-residents this residency year.

NorthBay Medical Center is located between my home town of San Jose and UC Davis, where I studied Biochemistry & Molecular Cell Biology and minored in Philosophy. Based on a recommendation from a good friend, I made the serendipitous choice of applying to Creighton University for my pharmacy education. I was born and raised in California my whole life, and decided it was about time for me to experience life outside of the Golden State. I ended up spending three-and-a-half unforgettable years in the Midwest and never regretted a moment of it (I actually miss the snow!). My final year of rotations took me throughout Nebraska, various parts of California, and Florida. In the end I decided to pursue a residency program at a locale that was closer to my roots.

When I am not engaged in the world of pharmacy, I spend most of my free time either geeking out with electronics, experimenting with ideas I pick up from the Food Network, or engrossed in some form of physical activity. My current hobbies include hiking, cycling (mainly road, but I’ve just started getting into mountain biking), gym climbing, snowboarding, and tennis.

Christopher Silag, Pharm.D.

I completed my B.S. in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine in 2006 and worked for a period of time in banking and finance. After realizing a career in pharmacy was more suited for me, I decided on a change of scenery and headed for the east coast to complete my Pharm.D. at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. While thankful for my time and experiences along the eastern seaboard, I quickly realized snow and cold weather were not things I regularly enjoyed. NorthBay has served as a homecoming both literally and figuratively (Fairfield, Calif. is my hometown) and has built upon my interests in both inpatient clinical practice and health system/operations management. I’m also lucky to work with such a close-knit resident core. When not at NorthBay, I enjoy photography, traveling, and rooting for the San Francisco Giants.
